Obituary for James Nelson "Jim" Hyland

James Nelson "Jim" Hyland
Hyland, James “Jim”
"With Christ; which is far better." Philippians 1:23
Jim passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday, September 6, 2019 at the age of 60.  Beloved husband of Faye (nee Byrne).  Father of Kim and Amy Hyland. Brother of Jennifer (Stephen) Thurgood and Derek and Debbie Hyland. He will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law from Newfoundland, Pauline Byrne, Wanda (Robert) Strickland, Helen Byrne and Gerry (Lana) Byrne.  Jim will be fondly remembered by his mother-in-law Dorothy (late Gerald) Byrne and his many nieces, nephews and extended family.  Jim is predeceased by his parents Harold and Amy (nee Looby) Hyland. Also so important to Jim were his brothers and sisters in the Lord that meant so much to him, especially during his more than 30 years of missionary work serving his Lord and Saviour.  Jim’s work in spreading the gospel took him around the world.  He spent much of his time in the English Caribbean, along with visits to Guyana, Egypt, Nigeria, Western Europe, England and he also travelled extensively in the US and Canada, preaching the Word of God and encouraging Christians.  Jim's family express grateful thanks to Dr. Ryan and all of the nurses who gave such compassionate care to Jim at the Smiths Falls Hospital. Friends may pay their respects at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m., and again on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  A service will take place in the auditorium at the Gallipeau Centre, 361 Queen St., Smiths Falls on Saturday at 11 a.m.  Interment will follow at Maple Vale Cemetery.  If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Bible Truth Publications, for Bibles to be distributed in the Islands.
