Grieving our loved ones is an essential part of the healing process. And while the way we say goodbye may be evolving right now, there are many positive options for families, and important updates we have received from the Ontario government.
We have formulated and completed a plan, following guidelines from public health officials, for visitations and services as we prepare for public and private gatherings.
What you can expect when you come to our facility
Visitations – Public/Private
-Families must arrive no later than one hour prior to the gathering start time.
-Masks are mandatory at our facility and throughout all services provided. Guests may provide their own or we can provide one for them.
-Your name and phone number will be taken upon arrival for tracing purposes (one per household).
-Hand sanitizer is located at the entrance upon check-in and throughout our facility.
-Guests are reminded to refrain from physical contact with family outside their household.
-Social distancing of 2m or 6ft will be maintained at all times (except for those from the same household).
-Donations may be made as guests exit our facility. Procedures and a donation box for cash and cheques has been established. Please note no change will be provided.
Chapel Services – Private for Invitees only
-For each chapel service a list of confirmed attendees will be required. Maximum outlined capacities for our Perth and Smiths Falls Chapels will be reviewed with each family.
-The chapel will have assigned seating to comply with social distancing guidelines.
-Music will be recorded, and we will refrain from congregational singing. Specific musical requests may be accommodated.
-Once the service has concluded, please exit the chapel in the groups you have been seated with, respecting social distancing protocols.
-Services will continue to be streamed and recorded as per family request and available on our website upon family approval.
Post Ceremony Gatherings
-Our Reception Centre can accommodate small groups of people at one time (including the officiant/excluding funeral home staff). Posted guidelines will be available on site.
-Following the ceremony, you are welcome to spend a short period of time with family and friends in our family centre.
Sealed beverages can be provided at this time. Food services will recommence at a later date, according to guidance from our local public health unit, whom we are in constant contact with.
-Any outdoor ceremony must be limited to 50 people or less (including the officiant – excluding funeral staff).
Even though we are in the fresh air, social distancing will remain in place. Please stay with your household units and continue to wear your face coverings throughout the ceremonies.
As we all look towards brighter times – post COVID-19 –we continue to work with families in honouring the lives of their loved ones.
We are here and ready to help families in time of need. Thank you to all of the families and communities we are privileged to serve, our thoughts are with you.
