It was with great sadness that we learned today of Mike's passing.
We have been good family friends for many years beginning in the mid 1960s. A family friendship that was etched in stone and a friendship that has endured the test of time.
Mike had a special way of dealing with situations and could always find the positive in the worst possible situation. If he had a problem you would not hear about it. Even though he had his share of medical problems he was always more interested in the well being of others. If anyone needed help, he would always be the first in line, and could be counted on, to offer his assistance. This was Mike at his finest, willing to help others in their time of need. This was true in the Military, the Scouting movement, his career with the Commissioners and the Royal Canadian Legion. I was always amazed at his dedication to solving the task at hand and the loyalty he exhibited to those he served.
Mike Shannon will be missed by those of us who knew him as Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Soldier, Scout Leader, Commissioner or friend. As long as we, family and friends.....have hearts, minds and stories to tell...Mike will not be forgotten.
May God rest his soul....God Bless him and the Shannon family.
