John was born in Kirkland Lake on February 10, 1943 and moved to Smiths Falls as a young boy with his parents, William and Marjorie and sister Betty. He went to school to become a barber, and spent some time farming in the Merrickville area, before being employed at Parks Canada until his retirement. He and his wife Nancy lived in Athens for many years with his constant shadow and friend Maggie. Along with his wife of 42 years, John is survived by his children Heather (Cary), Bill (Shawna), JoAnne, and stepson Wayne. As well as his grandchildren Danielle (Gary), Jason, Tosha (Joel), Brad, Brayland (Jenna), Daryka (James), Krista and Adam and great grandchildren Dominic, Aubrey, Caroline, Hunter, Harper and Maya. John is also survived by his in-laws Richard (Rita), Mary (Lee) and Rae (Lyne) nieces and nephews Kathy, Peter, Linda, Laurie and KC and special to his heart Lisa. John was predeceased by his parents William and Marjorie, sister Betty, brother in-law Garry and sister in-law Cheryl. As per John's wishes, there will be no service. Cremation to follow and interment at Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date.
