I was 25, a stranger, alone, lost - and barely well enough to stand up - when I knocked on Mary's door in katmandu in the fall of 1987: and Mary let me in, fed me, washed my clothes, let me sleep in a clean bed and enthrawlled me with talk about her show dog and all the trophies they had won. She was - and will always be - an angel of mercy and grace. Thank you Mary. Well done good and faithful servant: "Master, let your servant depart in peace according to your will." I will keep the family in my prayers.

Dearest Aunt Mary,
I finally told the children about your passing last evening. They were very upset with the fact that they will never get to see you again until they get to Heaven. I told them that you are helping God with his beautiful gardens and are very happy where you are. Thank you for always being such a wonderful Aunt to me and my children. We will all miss you so much. I am glad that I had a chance to say goodbye to you in the hospital and am grateful that you are now at peace. I know that you are looking down from above and praying for all of us. I love you.
Love Your Great Niece, Angie xoxo

Dear Aunt Mary, I feel very lucky that I got to know you so well over the years. You always were there at every birthday party, Christmas and other family gatherings, you always had an encouraging word and praise. There are so many memories that I will always keep with me, I will never forget the summers that Wendy, Fred and I came to do gardening and we got paid $20 bucks for the day. You always fed us Lunch, we thought it was great! I am glad that I got to say goodbye and that you passed peacefully you will never be forgotten, I Love you very much, your Great Niece Emily

I have many happy memories of Mary. I also worked in India, and one year a colleague and I stayed with Mary when she was working in Kathmandu, Nepal. She was good to take us various places around Kathmandu. She had two little dogs then.
I also visited Mary a few times in Smith Falls when I was living in Ottawa. However now I am living in Meaford, and much as I would like to attend the funeral, it is just too far away, and so I am sending my condolences via e-mail. I don't really know her family, but I know you will be missing her. She had a great spirit, and a great worker.
May God comfort you all.
Sincerely, Eleanor Crabtree

Thank you Mary for being our grand sari-clad dame at Hadassah 1981-82. We got to celebrate your 60 years in class. You taught us what Life Long learning was all about not only in community health but in living and walking with our Lord each day. Friday afternoon, we would have our Bible study - informal, lighthearted discussion with Neville and his wife, Chrystabele,Elena, Delia and me. We enjoyed the snacks after that. You kept the links with your year end typewritten letter -update on church, health and dogs, Christmas poems and New Year greetings and a highly personal handwritten note with prayers for our concerns. I'll miss that. With our Lord now, whisper our thanks for your presence in our life. trelle

I was saddened to hear of Mary's passing. She was a lovely lady who will be greatly missed by all she knew. I saw her last on the 12th of August at the Rideau Women's Institute meeting, which she was a member of for many years. She will be missed by all the members of that branch and of Lanark South District Women's Institute. Our condolences to the family from all of us in Lanark South District W.I.
