Obituary of Robert Severin Snider
Robert “Bob” Severin Snider, age 73 of Ottawa, passed away peacefully on December 14th, 2024 after a short battle with cancer and complications from Parkinson’s disease.
Bob was born on June 8th, 1951, to Doris and Albert Snider in Fredericton, NB. His pride was his son Danny and grandson Luke. Bob is survived by his sisters Linda (Peter Walsh), Phyllis (late Walter Caplin) and Pat (late Paul Richard) and brother Robert Wilkin (Liz) – all living in New Brunswick.
Bob grew up in Shediac, NB where his love of the sea took hold. He moved to Ottawa in the 1970s and had a long career at Enbridge Gas. He met his life partner Ainsley Shepherd on a Saturday afternoon date at the New Edinburgh Pub and they have been together ever since. Ainsley was Bob’s best friend and rock. Bob had a great sense of humour and loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed the simple things like walking in “the hood”, live music and especially, Saturday night at home, candles lit being DJ for “just us two”. He loved to discuss music especially with those who shared his interest (Chris, JC Ryan, Scott).
One of his favourite things was planning road trips to interesting places where a live concert was happening. Bob also loved his hometown Shediac and bar clamming at his favourite spot, eating lobster back home with the family, going to Ottawa festivals by bike, and spending time at the cottage on Bass Lake or in Venice, Florida where he often shared a morning swim with their dog Piper who never left his side.
Bob was grateful to see so many family, sisters and brother from New Brunswick, dear friends and especially his son Danny during his time in the Perth Hospital. As per his wishes, a small gathering for family and friends will take place at a later date. A special thanks to the nurses and doctors at the Perth and Smiths Falls hospitals for their exceptional care.
