

Obituary of Ted Church
Church, Charles Edward “Ted”
October 11th, 1947 – January 21st, 2025
Ted was born in Renfrew, Ontario in 1947 to Frank and Lillian Church, and passed away peacefully at home and surrounded by his family, on January 21st 2025. Ted leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Dora, his daughter Tamara (Andreas) and son Brent (Sheena), his brother Bob (Cathy) and sister Frances. He is predeceased by his brother, Cliff (Linda). Ted has two grandchildren, Quinn and Ethan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ted moved to the city of Ottawa in 1968 and started working at Metropolitan Life Insurance, where he met Dora. They married in May 1971. Later the same year, he began working for the government, where he remained for more than three decades. Ted initially worked in the Advisory Bureau for Computing, which became part of Supply and Services Canada. He and an associate built the department’s first Local Area Network. Ted later became a Computer Security Specialist until he retired in 2004 to start his own consulting company, Synchronous Security Inc. He provided information security services as part of various contracts until he retired again. Outside his working life, Ted enjoyed working with young people and volunteered in Scouting, softball, soccer and hockey, among other associations.
Near the end of Ted’s working life, he and Dora discovered ocean cruising, and over multiple cruises saw a large portion of the world, including parts of the Caribbean, South Pacific, Australia, and Europe. In 2007, Ted and Dora moved to the Perth area where Ted joined the Lions Club and the Masonic Order, volunteering many hours to these organizations until his death.
Friends and family may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. West, Perth on Friday, January 24th, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. There will be a service on Saturday, January 25th, 2025 at 1:30 P.M. in the Blair & Son Chapel followed by a celebration of life in the Lions Hall" .
