Obituary of Dorothy Marion Couvillion
Marion (Grammie), passed away gently in her home in the early hours of January 25, 2025, at the age of 95.
Daughter of George and Dorothy Wright, married to Rolland Couvillion, Marion is remembered fondly by her three daughters Kathleen, Carolyn, and Christine, her grandchildren Emily, Graham, Amelia, Sean, Jena, and Madison, her great-grandchildren Nikolas, Olivia, Jasmine, and Maya, and her beloved border collie, Gracie. Grammie was sadly also predeceased by her grandson William. She had a wonderful extended family and many people she considered her best friends. Grammie was our rock, and will be missed dearly.
Marion (Lightning) was a BSc graduate of McGill University’s MacDonald College when uniforms were enforced, and a wild night involved splitting a can of sweetened condensed milk with her friends. She devoted her life to family, trips to Drake’s Island, Maine, and charity work. For 20 years she volunteered and later sat on the board of Thrift Shops for NOVA. She was also perhaps their best customer.
Marion holds a special place in the hearts of those who knew her. She loved her family and friends with limitless loyalty, friendship, and grace. She was wonderful company, incredibly warm, quick-witted, intellectually curious, and generous.
Marion’s ashes will be scattered alongside her husband’s at a family ceremony by the seashore she loved the most. Instead of flowers, please consider donating in her honour to Covenant House or the Falls Food Hub.
We encourage everyone to send warm wishes, fond memories, and photos below. She lived a magical life and loved fearlessly.
After all, tomorrow is another day.
