Obituary of Charles Bruce Henderson

Henderson, Charles Bruce Sr.

February 29, 1932 – January 26, 2025

Charles Bruce Henderson Sr. passed away at the Perth Hospital on January 26, 2025 at the age of 92. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Daphne, his parents, Arthur and Annie Henderson and siblings Arthur Henderson, Elsie Henderson, Grace Dezan and Elizabeth Harrison. Charles was the loved and cherished father and “Bompy” to Leslie (Jim) Armstrong and their children Kate (Kurt) Longboat and their daughter Willow, Tavish and Caden (Dominique) Armstrong; Laurie Henderson and her son David Henderson; Lynne (Terry) Barna and their children Rachel and Christian Barna; Lois (Steve) Gilmour and their children Jennifer (Andrew) Grace, Alison (Robert) Gilmour and Joel Gilmour; Lisa (Jody) Pfaff and their children Lana (Alex) Galea and their daughter Drew, and Natalie (Bo) Pfaff; Charles (Juli) Henderson and their children Marielle and Melanie Henderson, Sequoia, Maitland and Seren. He will be fondly remembered by Julie Garin Henderson, Mary Lou Burns, his brother Douglas Henderson and cousin Doug and Betty Henderson of Scotland, many nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Dad was a man of principle who loved a good argument and raised his children likewise. In 1969, after 20 years with Consolidated Paper he bought a grocery store (Henderson’s Red White) White), packed up his family and moved to Perth. After selling the store in 1986, he opened Charlie’s Car Wash; running the business until 2009. While he was a long-time Leafs fan, his loudest cheers were always saved for his six children, thirteen grandchildren and two brand-new great granddaughters.

Friends may pay their respects at a gathering in the Blair and Son Family Reception Centre, 15 Gore St. W., Perth on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, from 1:30 to 4:00 P.M. There will be a sharing of memories at 2:00 P.M. In remembrance of Charles, contributions to the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated

Slàinte Mhath, Dad. Have a wee dram.
