Day, Charles John “Jack”
July 4th, 1927 – January 30th, 2025
Jack passed away at Lanark Lodge, Perth on Thursday, January 30th, 2025 at the age of 97. He was predeceased by his wife Ethel (Sweeney) Day, his son Steven “Jed” Day (Robyn Saunders) and his siblings Ted (Mary), Jim (Lois) and Bill (Leah) Day. He was the loved father of Brian (Barb), Kevin (Terry Vasyliw), Cathy (Stephen) McGlade and Barb Huddleston, Grampa to six grandchildren and Great Grampa to eight great grandchildren. Jack started his working career at the old Tayside Textiles. He then joined Central Wire where he worked until retirement. Jack was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, an avid golfer and belonged to the Perth Curling Club. He enjoyed sipping a cold beer, was a lover of potted geraniums and grew a mean patch of rhubarb. He was also a TV sports fan of baseball, golf, football and hockey. Jack and Ethel were married for 72 years and he will join her in a niche at St. John’s Cemetery, Perth.
Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. West, Perth on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. Inurnment will be held at 3:00 P.M. at St. Johns Columbarium, St. Johns Cemetery . In memory of Jack, donations to the Perth & Smiths Falls Hospital Foundation (Perth site) or the Alzheimer’s Society are appreciated. A huge thanks to all the staff members at Lanark Lodge for their dedication and care for Jack and Ethel during their residency at the Lodge.
