Obituary of Leona Marie Pryce
Pryce, Leona
God has called his faithful follower Leona Marie Pryce (nee Fitzgerald) home on February 15th 2025 at Maple View Lodge, Athens, after a long fight with Alzheimer’s. Born on December 24th, 1942, Leona arrived as an early Christmas gift for Evelyn (Livingstone) and Leo Fitzgerald. She spent her childhood on Kinch St. in Jasper, where she met the love of her life, Charles “Bus” Pryce, at a local dance. They married soon after on June 3, 1960. Together they built a life on Kitley Line 4 and raised five children; Connie (Doug) Ferguson, Cheryl, Robert (Aida), Chris (Romyan), and Paul (Christel) Pryce. Leona found great joy in raising her family. She especially enjoyed cooking for her loved ones, earning a reputation for her delicious meals. Her deep commitment to others led her to become an RNA, where she graduated top of her class. She soon joined Smiths Falls Hospital, later discovering her true calling in the South Unit, where she cared for the elderly with compassion. Beyond her family and nursing career, Leona was a devoted and active member of the church, cherishing time spent with her church family, studying the bible, and embracing the joy of music. Cherished grandmother to Lindsay (Chris) Goodbody-Barber, Sonya and Janine Pryce, Jon Hutchings, Shane and Travis Ferguson, Kate (Ryan) Hyland, Olivia, Samuel, and Meryn Pryce. Beloved great Grandmother of Zoey St. Pierre Bak and Cole Barber. She will be fondly remembered by sister and brother in-law Audrey and Wally Berney, and sister in-law Pat Eriksson, along with many nieces, nephews, nursing colleagues, and her numerous friends through the church. Leona is predeceased by her parents Evelyn and Leo Fitzgerald, her husband Charles, her only sibling Tony, and sister and brother in-laws, Wilma and Eldon Mackie, Jean Mackie, Lorna and Allan Nolan, and George Pryce. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls on Saturday, February 22, 2205 from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Funeral service will follow at the Smiths Falls Free Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. Interment, Maple Vale Cemetery followed by a reception at the church hall. In memory of Leona, donations to the Maple View Lodge Residents’ Fund or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
