Obituary of Buddy Closs

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Buddy Closs, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, who passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, just shy of his 90th birthday. A devoted family man and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him, Buddy lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love for those around him.
Buddy was known for his unwavering commitment to his family, always putting the needs of his loved ones above his own. His dedication to his wife, Marie and children, Marlene (Dave) Bowes, Janis (Dave) Wood and Brenda (Sandy) Munn was a testament to his character. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Sandra Lee. His grandchildren were the light of his life, Amber (Curtis), Destiny (Adam), Devon (Cailey), Autumn (Ethan), Wyatt (Alexis), and Austin. He was the cherished great-grandfather of Benson. Buddy was the dear brother of the late Carl (Sharon) Closs, Gordon (late Nada) (Kay) Closs, Peggy (late Dan) Barr and Leola (Dan) Majore. Predeceased by his parents "Jack" and Winnie (nee Creighton) Closs. Buddy will be deeply missed by the entire crew of the Baldwin Depot Hunting Camp, many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.
A man who found joy in life's simple pleasures, Buddy was a true outdoorsman at heart. Whether it was hunting, fishing, trapping, snowmobiling, or ATVing, he loved nothing more than being in nature, where he felt most at home. His passion for the outdoors was matched only by his love for animals, particularly dogs, who were his constant companions on his many adventures.
Known as the "unofficial Mayor" and "Game Warden" of Clyde Forks, Buddy was a trusted figure in the community, always ready to lend a hand, offer advice, or share a story. His knowledge of the land and its wildlife was unparalleled, and he took great pride in helping others appreciate and respect the natural world.
Buddy leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and dedication that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will live on in the memories of the countless lives he touched with his generosity, wisdom, and love.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth on Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. A celebration of Buddy's life will be held in the chapel on Thursday, March 6th, 2025, at 11:00am. In honour of Buddy, memorial contributions to the Ontario Federation of Anglers & Hunters, or the Clyde Forks Cemetery would be greatly appreciated.
