Obituary of Donald William Reimer
Donald William Reimer passed away peacefully at Fairview Manor in Almonte on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the age of 90. Don Reimer was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend Ruth (nee Kerr). Loving and devoted father of Ken (Carol), John (Cynthia) and Gord (Kimberley) Reimer. Proud grandfather of Andrew Reimer (Maria) and Peter (Julie) Reimer, Alyse (Jon) Wilton, Deanna (Chad) Davidson, Joshua (Sarah) Reimer, Katrina (Lance) Craven, Illana (Geoff) Datema, Leah and Sophia Reimer. Treasured great-grandfather of Noah, Zachary, Jacob, Paislee, Ben, Abby, Ella, Emilia, Henry, and Nora. Don will be fondly remembered by his siblings Arnold Reimer, Violet Schroeder, and Alice Smith. Donald is predeceased by his parents John and Mary Reimer, his sisters Esther Goodwin, Charlotte Friesen, Anna Ewald, and brother Arthur Reimer. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Always with a special softness for his three boys and their families, he was proud of the kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Even at 90, he often asked about various life events and accomplishments. He and Ruth were committed to being a praying couple, and many of us benefited from their regular prayers.
Don had an interesting career in newspaper printing for the Saskatoon Star Phoenix, Edmonton Journal, and Toronto Telegram. He also spent a number of years on the print shop team at Prairie Bible Institute. He shifted his career focus toward teaching, where he taught for the Toronto School Board, starting in 1966 teaching printing and graphic arts, then as a guidance counsellor from 1971 until his retirement in 1993.
Together with his wife Ruth, he served in many roles in church life, bringing a humble leadership perspective as he served his Lord and Saviour. Together, Don & Ruth provided hospitality to many, including to missionaries, visiting strangers, and church family.
Friends may join with the family for a service to celebrate Donald's life on 10 May 2025 11:00am at Southgate Church, 1303 French Settlement Rd, Kemptville, Ontario. An interment service for immediate family only will be held in South Gower Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Prairie Bible Institute.
