Obituary of Peter Jeffrey Wand
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Jeffrey Wand on April 3rd, 2025 in Perth Ontario. Peter was born in Gananoque, Ontario March 29th 1941 to Thomas and Agnes (Nee Mason) Wand.
In his youth Peter discovered his musical talent that took him on a journey via the Salvation Army and the RCAF where he met and later married Merle Lynn McElroy in Manitoba. He remained her adoring husband for the next sixty years. Peter and Lynn had three sons together, William, Stephen and Philip, and they were proud of all of them.
Peter pursued careers with boldness. He was a reporter and editor with the Winnipeg Tribune. He demonstrated a flair for the written word. He went on to earn a BA at the University of Manitoba, eventually starting a new career in education as a teacher and vice principal.
In 1977 the family relocated to the Perth area where he started a desktop publishing business that he operated for many years.
Throughout all this, Peter took great delight in his music. He was a talented Clarinet player, and he was deeply involved with the Perth Community Band and for many years was band leader. He was also involved in many other smaller musical groups.
Peter was also a swimmer, who diligently swam laps of the Perth Community Pool, where he had many friends.
Peter is survived by his wife Merle Lynn (McElroy) and their three sons, William Peter Jeffery, Stephen Edward, and Philip Robert. His daughters in law, Kim (Brewster), Mi Na Kim, and Lyndsay Jardine as well as his grandchildren: sisters Miriam and Allison, sister and brother Bridget and Samuel and grandson Cameron.
There will be no services at this time. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Home, Perth.
