June 24th, 1952 ~ April 29th, 2025
John passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in the Kingston General Hospital on Tuesday, April 29th, 2025 with family by his side at the age of 72 years.
He was the beloved husband of Linda E. (Bowes) Spence. John was a devoted family man who loved life and took great pride in the life he built for those he loved. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas McLean and Eva Gertrude (Barrie) Spence. John was the proud father of Sarah, Krista, Ashley and Jonathan (Anna Bingley). He was the cherished grandfather of Aspen and Mari Anderson. He leaves behind his brother and sisters Tom (Kim), Judy, Janice (Fred Burchell), Brenda Kerr (late Ron Cooper) and Barb Cross. He was much loved by his wife’s family, the late Jack and Pat, Arnold (Eleanor), Wayne (Karen), Glenn (Kelly) Bowes.
John spent his career in the road construction industry and as a Road Superintendent for most of his life in North Elmsley, Drummond and Montaque Townships. He will be remembered for his strength, warmth and love for all his family and friends. We will miss Dad’s great sense of humour and jokes!
Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. West, Perth on Sunday May 4th, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Monday May 5th, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. Interment St. John’s Cemetery, Perth followed by a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 244, Perth.
