Obituary of Wayne Richard John Ashby

Wayne passed peacefully with his wife by his side on Tuesday May 20th, 2025, after a 6-year battle with pancreatic cancer in the Perth Hospital, in his 65th year. He was the beloved husband of Kathie and the dearly loved father of Trevor (Kelly), and Meagan (Phil Thomas). He was the proud Poppa of River, Canaan and Sharley Ashby. Wayne will be deeply missed by his sisters Cathy (Dan) Trotter and Sharon (Ken) Scanlon, nephews Gregory Trotter (Alli), Hayden Trotter, Michael Scanlon, and niece Jamie (Jerry) Diaz. He will be fondly remembered by his Aunt Barbara Renaud and Uncle Steve (Edie) Burke and by his many cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Morris and Shirley (nee Burke) Ashby. Wayne will be fondly remembered by his family, many friends, colleagues and acquaintances. 

Wayne worked for many years with the public as a Deli Manager, Transit Operator and Travel Agent. He was always involved with the community, Balderson United Church, and various committees at work. He especially enjoyed his time organizing travel and socializing. 

A special thank you to Dr. Liu, Dr. Cagiannos, Dr. Vickers and all the Health Care Professionals, Wayne thought you were stellar.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W., Perth on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Wayne's memorial service will be held at St. Paul's United Church, 25 Gore St. W., Perth on Thursday, June 5th, 2025 at 10:30am. In honour of Wayne memorial contributions to the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation - Perth Site or the Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated.
