Obituary of Nancy Elizabeth Haley (Nee Girdwood)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Elizabeth Haley, on June 8, 2025. She died peacefully with family at her side, in hospital (Kingston) due to complications from a stomach perforation. Daughter of the late James and Annie Girdwood, she was born in Perth, ON where she was raised, and lived for most of her life. Forever in the hearts of her four children, Katherine of Ottawa, Derek (Ruth) of Guelph, Laura of Ponoka, AB, and Mark (Nicole Maguire) of Lucan. Nancy was Grandma Haley to Callum, Ben, Evan, Clara, and Amelia. Dear sister of Dawson Girdwood (Betty) of Perth, Marjorie Mayer (late Kurt) of Cobourg, and she was predeceased by Glenn, Morden, Anita McGlade, and Fred. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. In her life, Nancy was a woman of resilience and quiet endurance who was uplifted by several dear friends and kindred spirits – and by a variety of animal companions, especially her late dog Pearl. She benefited tremendously in later years from the support and services of various benevolent community organizations. 

Respecting Nancy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held in Perth at a later date. If desired, donations in memory of Nancy may be made to Community Home Support Lanark County, or to a charity of your choice.
