A granddaughter should never be put in a position to see her grandfathers final days flash infront of her eyes, standing in the middle of his apartment alone in the mess, where he had his last breath, trying to figure it out, trying to make sense of it, what happened, why was it like this, what do i do, how do I do it... having to notify the funeral home, starting the process..communicating with police, EMS and the medical examiner, contacting family, not even 24hrs later removing all of his belongings from his apartment, getting rid of everything he owned like he never EXISTED... ...... falling apart in front of your kids and try to gain the strength and find the answers ......to pull through and try to make sure all his wishes are met. It was extremely unfair and devastating.
With a heavy heart I'm saden
Sidney William Warwick (my dearest gramps) has passed away at the age of 83, alone in his apartment, fighting many unknown battles.
He was a stubborn man.....and boy could he ever get ugly but he had a heart of gold, he cared more than he should have...especially about those who damn well never deserved it.
Gramps you lived a long life that most can only wish for. You travelled all over canada, you worked hard, you created a family with the love of your life, it wasnt a perfect family but it was your family, one that you loved and cherished whole heartedly and was extremely proud of. You were blessed with grandbabies and precious great grandbabies that you talked so highly about, the world wasn't the nicest to you but you continued to love with all your heart and lived your life to the fullest the way you wanted.
The time we spent together will be cherished everyday as my years go on. Your pain is now gone even though you always told me you had a CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH...... I know it was your way to shield us, but down deep in side I knew you were full of shit... but at the same time I didn't dig as, I couldn't live with myself, if i would have forced you to give up your dignity. Anytime i suggest making changes to your life and living arrangements or had you on a waiting list you teared up and got mean.. it was heartbreaking to watch. Ive always been your favorite as you told me over and over throughout the years lol grandparents really shouldnt pick favorites he knew better but regardless i knew i had a very special place in his heart, I was not going to be the person to take it all away and force him to make hard decisions until I had no choice to!!
I did what he wished for nothing more, nothing less.
My girls (his great granddaughters) always loved the time spent with great papa, hearing about his story's, Katie was always so facinated with his art and crafts and addie all about his coins, pins and glasses.
I know your with grams now gramps,
you've waited 10 years to be reunited.
I'm truly going to miss you!!!
I'll always be your little pumpkin
I wish we would have had more time.
I love you gramps
until we meet again, fly high
