Obituary of Elaine Moore

Eva June Elaine Moore (née Pratt)
October 3, 1951 – July 16, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Elaine Moore, who passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, at the age of 73, with her family by her side.

Born on October 3, 1951, in Maberly, Ontario, Elaine spent most of her life in Perth, Ontario, where she created a home filled with love, creativity, humour and joy.

Elaine was a gifted artist who expressed herself beautifully through painting.

Elaine loved to read, and she was truly happy when she was spending time in her beautiful gardens and watching all of the birds who visited their home – especially the hummingbirds and cardinals.

Elaine embraced life with energy and enthusiasm.  She was always active, finding joy in playing pickleball, practicing Tai Chi and yoga, and spending time on the golf course.

But above all, Elaine cherished time with her family and friends — they were truly the heart of her world. Her social calendar was always full, as she spent time with many wonderful and caring friends, many of whom she had known for decades.

Many of these friendships were formed when she worked for more than 30 years at Cutler-Hammer/Westinghouse/Eaton.

Elaine will be remembered for her warmth, her adventurous spirit, and the way she brought people together with laughter, love, and genuine care.

On August 23, 1969 Elaine married her soulmate and the love of her life, Glen Moore, and they would have celebrated 56 years of marriage this year.  Glen loved her with all of his heart, telling her every day how beautiful she was.  Together they created countless memories, but most importantly they created a family which gave them both so much pride, laughter and comfort.

Elaine leaves behind three daughters and their families - Kimberly Moore and her son Caleb, Kirsten and Derick Cote and their daughter Lexi, and Janice and Chris Beechey and their daughters Katie, Rachel and Sarah.  We could not have asked for a better mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and nana, and her absence creates a hole in our hearts that cannot be filled.

Elaine was the second youngest of 11 siblings.   Elaine was predeceased by her parents Lloyd and Eva Pratt, and by Glen’s parents James and Viola Moore.  Too many of Elaine’s sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law have passed before her.  Doris and Ross Irvine, Ronald and Helen Pratt, Howard and Rosemary Pratt, Robert and Patricia Pratt, Verna Pratt-Wood, Brian Pratt, Pearl Pratt, Barbara Pratt, James Moore, Geneva Moore, and Bernice and Howard Ferguson, were waiting in Heaven with their arms open for Elaine.

Elaine leaves behind Shirley and Willis Sergeant, Gary and Anna Pratt, Victor Pratt, Wilmer Pratt, Sharon Pratt, Dianne Moore, Allan Moore and David Moore, and they will carry on Elaine’s memory with love.

Elaine was also blessed to have many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Elaine’s special dog, Mimi, rarely strayed from Elaine’s side over the last five months, and she brought great joy to Elaine over the years.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday August 3, 2025 at the Perth Civitan Hall from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm. All who knew and loved Elaine are welcome to attend and celebrate her remarkable life.  We would be grateful if you could bring stories, memories and photos of all of the good times that you spent together so that we could create a book that we can look to when we need comforting.

Elaine’s family would like to thank Dr. Christine Last (and nurse Heather), Dr. Kristin Wright (and nurse Christine), Dr. Jade Sillick, Nurse Jennifer Galveias, the staff at the Great War Memorial Hospital - Perth and the Kingston General Hospital, and all of the amazing and compassionate nurses who provided palliative care to Elaine.  We would also like to thank all of her family and friends who have supported us, and who continue to be there for us.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elaine’s memory to Food For Thought Lanark County or Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation - Palliative Care Unit.  Funeral arrangements in care of Blair and Son Funeral Directors, Perth.

. . .

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone.

Young or old alike.

And today may be the last chance,

You get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you’re waiting for tomorrow,

Why not do it today,

For if tomorrow never comes,

You’ll surely regret the day.

So hold your loved ones close today,

And whisper in their ear,

Tell them how much you love them,

And you’ll always hold them dear.

Take time to say “I’m sorry”, “Please forgive me”,

“Thank you”, or “”It’s OK”

And if tomorrow never comes,

You’ll have no regrets about today.
