Peacefully, on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in Ottawa, Frank was the son of the late John Amyot and Luella (née Mundt). Predeceased in 2005 by his wife Madge (née McFadden) and in 1978 by his beloved son Randy. Frank was the devoted stepfather of Kevin (Francine), Gerard, Anthony (Joelle Murray) and Vincent Dale (Claire Goldsmith); and Grampa of Etienne, Harrison, Briannah, Fiona, Manus, Julianna, Chloe and Thea.
Brother of Greg (late Clare), Mike (Marie), Mary Spooner (Rod), Sr. Patricia (Sisters of Providence), Joan Séguin (late Jean-Marc), Betty Clarke, Jenny McLean, Tony (Carol). Predeceased by his brothers John (late Renée), Fr. Timothy Amyot, O.S.M., and Leo (late Marie).
Born in 1937, Frank was named after his uncle who had won Canada’s only gold medal (in canoeing) at the 1936 Olympics.
Frank enjoyed a long career at Nordion (formerly AECL) and was proud of his union leadership of PSAC Local 70367.
Frank loved to be outdoors: working in his garden, cutting firewood, tapping maple trees or just driving his Kubota tractor. In his younger days he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and portaging and canoeing in Algonquin Park. In later years he became an expert dog agility handler. He had a lifelong love of Irish and Scottish folk music, amassing a vast and varied collection.
The family wish to thank the devoted staff of Lanark Lodge Long Care Term Home who looked after Frank these last two years and ensured that his final days were as comfortable as possible.
Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 15 Steeple Hill Crescent Nepean ON K2R 1G2 on Thursday, July 31 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors, Perth.
