Obituary of Helen Marie Cameron
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt and friend.
Helen Marie Cameron (nee Stroud) was born in Balderson on March 15, 1934, the third daughter of the late Gordon and Marie Stroud. Her childhood was spent on the French Line where she enjoyed berry picking, farm life and her many siblings, the late Mary (the late Bob), Lillian (Norman), Noreen (the late Craig), Bernard (the late Judy), Irene (Bill), the late Frank (Lillian), the late Diane, the late Marie, and Anne (the late Gary).
On June 29, 1957 she was married to (the late) Cecil Cameron. They were long-time residents in Lanark and lived for many years on the same street. Mom always wanted to stay in her own home and that wish was fulfilled. She was daughter-in-law to the late Hilda & R.B. and sister-in-law to the late Ross and Ronald.
She worked many years at Glenayr Knit on many different jobs; the last one was to operate a steam press for the many clothing products that were sold at the factory store. She not only held a full time job but was also mother to Debra (Rick), Doug (Lori), Robert (Georgette), Susan (Kirk), Linda (Dan), Corrine (Andy), and Judy (Kevin). Over the years her family continued to grow and was grandmother to Nick, Ben (Karen), Shawn (Amanda) Meghan (JP), Kirsten, Charlee (Igor), Joel (Julie), Andrea (Corey), Autumn, April (Micheal), Justin (Laurie), Tia, Danielle (Brian), Alex (Josie), Stephanie (Peter), Evan (Celsie), and Austin (Maxine). She thoroughly enjoyed her family circle growing and was Great Grandma to Blakely, Abigail, Jet, Kate, Abigail, Noah, Eli, Elizabeth, Matthew, Athena, James, Justine, Johnathan, Dominic, Mason, Lila, Kiera, Aubree, Elias, Helen, Luke, Parker and Piper. She loved being an Aunt and Great Aunt to many.
She was an active member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a long time CWL member. She helped out at many activities, church suppers, or luncheon functions. Her hands were never idle with her many baking endeavors, craft projects, knitting and crocheting. Homemade mittens and socks were always plentiful. When Halloween rolled around and at Christmas time she made the best homemade candy and we all loved to get her treats. She lived a life well lived.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Wednesday July 30th at the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Lanark, with interment at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Lanark. Friends and family are invited to join for a reception at the St Andrew’s United Church Hall following the interment.
In honour of Helen, memorial donations would be appreciated to the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation, or the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church Building Maintenance Fund. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Blair and Son Funeral Home, Perth.
