Obituary of Ingrid Rodger
Ingrid (Lueders) Rodger, aged 67, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, surrounded by family and friends, holding the hands of her daughter and son-in-law. Her passing followed a long and courageous journey with cancer—marked by grace, resilience, and unwavering strength.
Ingrid was the world’s best Oma, mother, wife, sister, and friend.
Born in Hamburg, Germany, Ingrid immigrated to Canada at a young age, bringing with her a deep love of family that shaped every chapter of her life. She was a devoted sister, offering not only love but constant support to her siblings. At 19, she married the love of her life, and together they built a home filled with warmth, devotion, and laughter. For the past 35 years, Ingrid dedicated herself wholeheartedly to raising their daughter, surrounding her with boundless love, guidance, and support.
Ingrid had a deep love of gardening and travelling, passions that reflected her appreciation for both beauty and adventure. Whether tending to her flowers or exploring new places, she shared those experiences with the people she loved. In recent years, Ingrid found her greatest joy in being an Oma—cherishing every wild, beautiful moment spent with her four grandsons, who brought endless light and laughter to her days.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ingrid and Richard Lueders of Prestonvale, and her in-laws, Earle and Joan Rodger of Lanark. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, James Rodger; her beloved daughter Kristen and son-in-law Jamie Sweeney; and her four adored grandsons—James, William, Patrick, and Joseph—who were the center of her world and who, in turn, adored her beyond words. Ingrid will be deeply missed by many, including her siblings: Richard (Julie), Anja (Jim), Carolin (Dave), and Jan (Suzanne); her sisters-in-law: Norma, Darlene, and Anne; and her cherished nieces and nephews: Kenny, Davey, Randy, Kyle, Christa, Hali, Todd, Josh, and Vanessa. Ingrid was a beloved Oma not only to her grandchildren but to all the children in her life. She will be deeply missed by Tylie, Mila, Jackson, Ashton, Gus, and many others whose lives she touched with love and warmth.
A celebration of Ingrid’s life will be held with her family on September 28th, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Ferguson Falls Hall, located at 1362 Ferguson’s Falls Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ingrid’s memory may be made to the Perth Hospital. Her time there was met with the best care, and the staff were compassionate, attentive, and unwavering in their support—bringing comfort to Ingrid and her family during her final days.
