I was saddened to learn of the passing of Brady. I started on 5-D in 75 and she came to our ward sometime afterwards. I always admired her dedication to her patients and their families. She was a great raconteur and some of her stories still give me a chuckle. She will always be remembered as a great advocate of her patients and their families but she was for her co-workers as well. I remember well her support of me in my personal times of need. I’m sure I said Thank You Brady but it warrants repeating Thank You very much. RIP

I was very saddened to hear that Marg had passed away last week, I had known her for 30 years this summer, Marg Brady was my first nurse when I was a young child at Sick Kids in the ‘90s. To say she was exceptional at her job would be an understatement, she took care of me for over a decade, literally holding my hand through some of the hardest moments of my life. Even when I “graduated” to an adult hospital we stayed in touch, I loved hearing all about her life once she retired, and all the things she got up to. Marg was a joy to know, and I’d like to think she’s smiling down at us from a beautiful fairway in heaven! My condolences to her family <3

Please accept my sincere condolences on the sad passing of Marg. She and I worked on 5D together since 1979 when I first graduated from nursing school. We were great friends and shared many long walks and talks going to work in the morning over the years. I will remember her great sense of humour and her wonderful cooking. Most of all, I remember her sincere love of and dedication to the children at SickKids. She was a firm but caring nurse through her whole career. She will be missed.

Margie was fierce, fiercely protecting and ensuring that each and every child be given the best possible care! She was equally fierce in protecting the parents of every child. But there was no one that meant more to her than her family. How often she spoke of you all with great pride and joy. Also Margie had a huge circle of friends from years gone by and expanded more recently. Margie may you have a great course to play golf (along side a beautiful lake) and raise a glass of white wine (with ice) at the 19th hole. So happy to have worked with you and to call you my friend. The hearts you touched reflect the time that you spent here on earth. Much love.
My sincerest condolences to her family.

Marg was indeed a well liked and respected nurse at the Hospital for Sick Children and was actually the very first contact I had on 5D when I arrived as a new young staff member. She welcomed me and I credit Marg with mentoring me and sharing her many skills that I used over my career. I remember Marg being a wonderful patient advocate, ensuring a great quality of life for the patients and families during their hospital stay. It was important to her that the children develop their social skills and despite their complex medical needs made sure they gathered together for lunchtime meals or playtime. Marg always baked for our weekly unit meetings, giving us a sweet treat along with the important unit updates. Marg and I also shared a passion for golf and have fond memories of my husband and I playing a round of golf with her as we drove nearby her cottage. Cheers to you Marg as you rest easy and know your friends take comfort in our fond memories of you. Deepest condolence to her family.

I first met Marg when I was 18 years old working as a Unit Clerk at Sick Kids on the Nephrology Unit in the 70s. We all had to pass Marg's "tests" to impress her and she was definitely a mentor to all of us. Not only a great nurse, she became one of my best friends. She was kind and she will definitely be missed by all of her 5D friends. Condolences to Marg's family.

Judie and I are so upset at Marg's passing. We kept in touch with Marg by mail and always enjoyed her 8 page hand written letters which eventually became emails. hit always felt like she had arrived for an hour's visit with updates of the Sick Kids gang, all her activities, her zest for life and news of her large extended family. It was always a pleasure to go to clinics where Marg and Sarah kept the ball rolling limiting the time I would spent chatting to a patient and their family. Marg was amazing on remembering everyone's name and the current news. There were many invitations to go to Perth to play golf which unfortunately I never did
manage to do perhaps too afraid she would beat me.
Our friends and neighbours the Brooks from Clifton Road were part of Marg's big family as well.
God Speed Marg, with love,
Judie and Bill Balfe

When I began my many years at SickKids it all started with Marg in an acting role as educator. I won’t forget my first shift with her chasing me down making sure I had balanced my fluids correctly. (I hadn’t-she caught it). When I travelled to Africa to work I received countless multipage letters from her, rambling about every mundane or exciting bit of news, every syllable of which I cherished being so far from home. Though I haven’t seen her in a long time, she would still send emails or letters to keep me posted and be sure I was doing well. God Bless you Marg and family. A life well lived.

Marg was one of the first people I met when I started my nursing career at Sickkids on 5D, the Nephrology Unit in 1985. Over the years we worked together at the bedside as well as in management roles and finally for 9 years together in the Nephrology Clinic before her retirement in 2003. We were a dynamic duo who shared a passion for advocacy and empowering our clinic kids & their families in the management of various kidney diseases. Marg always had a great and funny story to share and was very much the life of the party! After retiring to her beloved cottage in Perth she kept in touch with so many friends, peers, past patients and their families through her handwritten letters which were always at least 8 pages long detailing all she was up to, including her latest menu for dinner parties she hosted! I last visited with Marg in September 2023 and while she was experiencing some health issues she still had her fiery spirit and sense of humour. Thank you Marg for all that you were to me, the most important being a true friend. You will be missed.

My heartfelt sympathy to Marg’s family at this very sad time. I first met Marg at Loretto Abbey in the mid-60’s, then roomed with her at St. Michael’s Hospital School of Nursing for 3 years. Following graduation, we went our separate ways but always remained in touch. Marg had such an infectious laugh and a real “joie de vivre” about her. I was so blessed to have her as my friend. Thank you Marg for a lifetime of memories that I will cherish forever.

Marg was a giant, though not very tall.
For many years, she was the backbone of nursing care in Nephrology at SickKids.
My wife aslo has fond memories of Marg, who supervisedd care for our son, who was hospitalized as a baby - she thought Marg was wonderful and remembers her lecturing the younger nurses who were directly responsible at the bedside - nothing was allowed to interfere with patient care!
A great friend, and a great loss.
Enjoy the golf wherever you are Marg.
