Farrell, Ronald “Ron”

With great sadness, we say goodbye to Ron Farrell who passed away peacefully, at the age of 83, on July 26, 2025 at Fairview Manor in Almonte. Ron was born in Claresholm, Alberta on July 6, 1942 to Melba and Shaun Farrell. He is predeceased by his siblings Barbara and Michael. He was a devoted husband of Jane. Ron will be dearly missed by his three children, James, Shannon (Alex), and Chris (Sue), their mother Laurie (Russ), his five grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, Ciara, Liam and Shaun, his sister-in-law Audrey, and his nephews, Tim (Christin) and Jeff (Melissa). 

Ron was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed golfing and curling. He loved a good book, and was always happiest at the cottage on Mississippi Lake and, more recently, Bass Lake. He will be remembered for his warm smile, a twinkle in his eye, and his love of a good (or not-so-good) joke.

Ron will be remembered as a kind, gentle soul who embraced all those he encountered with genuine warmth. He was a natural conversationalist, effortlessly connecting with people from all walks of life. He took as much joy in hearing others’ stories as he did in telling his own. As a resident of Perth, Ontario, Ron never hesitated to extend a helping hand to a neighbour. He enjoyed volunteering and being active in his community, offering his time to many causes, such as Stewart Park Festival, BIG Ben Committee, Olympic Home Coming, and the Chamber Golf Tournament. Ron also loved sharing his love of the community with his grandchildren, who have many fond memories of weekends at the Perth Fair and the Santa Claus Parade.

Family would like to thank the devoted staff at Fairview Manor who cared for Ron during his final battle with Alzheimer's.

A casual gathering of family and friends will be held to honour and remember Ron's life on Sunday September 14th at Perthshire Clubhouse (27 Lally Lane, Perth, Ontario) from 1:00-3:00 pm. He can be remembered through donations to the Alzheimer Society of Lanark Leeds Grenville in lieu of flowers.
