Sylvia and family, we are so sorry to hear about Paul's passing. We have been away from our home in Stratford for awhile travelling and only heard the news recently. Paul was a great colleague and friend while we both worked at Paragon and Stantec. Those were great days. Paul's calm and thoughtful leadership was greatly appreciated. He will be greatly missed in all parts of his life.
Our deepest sympathies to you and your family.

Paul and I car-pooled when we both worked at the City of Waterloo. During this time the twins were born.
Paul was a very good engineer and a great guy to work with. He is responsible for many projects, but the one I still think about is the pedestrian/cyclist underpass on Lexington Road in Waterloo. There was a lot of obstacles to that feature, but now it is extremely well used by the cycling community. Thanks for planning ahead.

I worked with Paul for 20 years and he was one of best and strongest mentors I have ever had. He had a way of challenging you to do your best work but in a way that you wanted to do it, not because he told you to. He was an exemplary client manager, a strategist and one of the smartest people I have ever worked with. I recall a time in my career where I was struggling through a crisis and Paul was there for me, checking in regularly and providing support. He was the type of leader that truly cared about the people who worked for him and wanted them to succeed. He has had such a strong impact on myself and an entire generation of young engineers. I will miss his wit and his jokes and the way he delivered them in a deadpan way but with a wry smile.

I am so sorry to hear this news.
I was expecting him to email any day and say he was going flying.
We truly enjoyed having him in the MRCC RC club and doing indoor and outdoor RC flying.
He was one of the best beginner pilots I have seen.
Had a natural touch to fly a RC plane.
He will be missed by us all.
My sincere condolences

I met Paul several years ago as a member of the Mississippi Radio Control Club. He was such a kind, caring and fun person to spend time with and we shared many great stories together. Although we knew each other for a short period of time I truly valued his integrity, sincerity and our friendship. One of the few photos I have of Paul was last summer when he was flying one of his larger planes at the field and the wing unexpectedly snapped off mid flight. Paul and I went into the woods to gather up what was left and he wasn’t upset at all. He had a smile on his face and said “ It’s only air over the wings Steve and if you don’t fly you will never crash”. As usual Paul looked at the bright side and never dwelled on the past. You will be missed my friend, gone but never forgotten. Rest in Peace

For 28 years, Paul was my boss, mentor but most importantly a great friend. He made coming to work both enjoyable and fun. I learned so much from him and was afforded opportunities that I wouldn’t have without him. I am so appreciative of the years we had together. He was a very special, caring man that he the utmost respect for everyone. Paul was very conscientious and often worked extra hours to ensure projects stayed on time but routinely put his family first. He would make sure he was home for dinner and bed time when Brent, Krissy and Jenna were young. He would then return to the office and work most of the night making sure he was home for breakfast with them.
I have so many good memories of client meetings (one time getting dressed in the dark so as not to disturb Sylvia and arriving at the meeting wearing one brown shoe and one black shoe), executive meetings, proposals, winning projects, company events, baseball games, baby births, pink hair, supporting United Way by having his head shaved and many, many personal events. One time while Paul was travelling he came upon a gentleman that was down on his luck. Paul gave him money to get a meal. When the individual commented that he liked his shoes, Paul said he did too and unfortunately they were the only ones he had with him so had to keep them. Otherwise he would have given them as well.
Paul, I will miss you being a part of my life. Take care my friend, until we meet again.

Dear Sylvia, Brent, Krissy, Jenn and all Paul’s beautiful grandchildren plus extended family and dear friends. Bob and I always enjoyed any time spent with Paul and you Sylvia and hearing all about your family and the cottage. I will treasure the texts from Paul, that were written as if they were a formal letter. Nothing like you see anymore, that is for sure. They always were so newsy and caring about how Bob and I were doing. Paul was such a kind, quiet, gentle soul and salt of the earth guy. He will be so greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very sad and difficult time. May he rest in eternal peace. Friends are together again.

So sorry to hear of Paul’s passing. Paul and I worked together in various capacities for over 25 years, and I owe him a great deal of gratitude for the way he helped me throughout my career. He was a true professional in all aspects…great attention to detail, ensuring the job was done properly, treating everyone with respect, including clients, staff, and the agencies we dealt with.
Paul was a great strategist and our clients enjoyed working with him immensely. He was a great leader and all staff appreciated his approach, his friendly manner, and his respect for their individual abilities.
Paul and I spent a lot of time driving to various client meetings and I learned so much from him in those pre-meeting strategy discussions. The trips home, after the pressure was off were lots of fun too!
I will miss Paul. He was a good friend, providing me with suggestions and guidance, which I always appreciated. I admired him greatly and will remember him fondly.
My condolences to you Sylvia, and all your family. He talked of you often and was so proud of all of you.

I met Paul as a member of the PDCI high school band. He was such a nice guy, always kind and happy and supportive of others.
He had a great sense of humor and I can still picture his smile. It makes me happy to know that he had a lovely family and enjoyed life to the fullest. So sad he was taken too soon.

Dear Sylvia and Family:
Please accept my condolences on Paul's passing.
I first met Paul on my first day of employment at Paragon Engineering on January 2, 1989. It was only my second job in my career, having spent 20 years at my first. Paul was foremost in welcoming me to the firm. His cheerful confident attitude became a hallmark of our friendship and working relationship that lasted for the next 20 years.
Paul was the consummate professional. He was respected by clients, regulatory officials and even by competing engineers. Part of that respect came from appreciation of Paul's quick wit. He had a knack of defusing tense situations. He was always in command of the situation.
Paul had a twinkle in his eye and you knew that something humorous was afoot. Work was always fun when Paul was around. His retirement party was a testament to how well he was respected by everyone in the industry.
I shall always remember Paul and our friendship fondly. Paul was a true gentleman.
Sincerely, Bill Stevens

Laurie and I were chatting about our high school memories of Paul and she told me she once offered to wash his band jacket. Unfortunately she shrunk it in the process and he was unable to wear it again. He just shrugged it off. Nothing flustered Paul he was always so calm and level headed.
We would both like to offer our condolences to his family.
Paul was one of the best.
