Obituary of Gerald Lawrence Street
Street, Gerald Lawrence
Peacefully at the Perth hospital on August 24th, 2025, Gerald passed away at the age of 100. He was the beloved husband of Thelma for nearly 75 years, and the devoted father of Kevin, Paul and Glenn (Michèle). Gerald was the treasured grandfather of Tyler. He was predeceased by his parents Morten & Stella and by his sister Doreen (Gerry). He will be fondly remembered by his niece Donna and nephew Doug, along with his extended family and friends.
Gerald will be fondly remembered as a dedicated businessman and community member whose presence touched many lives. For over 30 years, he owned and operated Street Real Estate & Insurance, where he built lasting relationships through his honesty, professionalism, and care for his clients. His commitment to his profession was reflected in his active involvement with the Ontario Real Estate Board, as well as his service on the Smiths Falls Planning Committee, where he worked to support the growth and development of his community.
Beyond his professional life, Gerald lived with passion and curiosity. He was a car enthusiast, especially the classic & antique cars he owned himself, always appreciating their timeless beauty and craftsmanship. His joy for travel took him to many destinations, yet he always found peace at the family cottage, where he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He took pride in passing along to his sons the family cottage that he built with the help of friends in the early 60’s. In his earlier days he enjoyed dance socials with Thelma and friends and maintained an interest in jazz music later in life. Hobby farming was another pastime that brought him fulfillment, allowing him to stay connected to the land. A proud member of the Smiths Falls Lion’s Club, he dedicated time to giving back, embodying the spirit of service and fellowship. He will be deeply missed and remembered for his generosity, enthusiasm, and the meaningful contributions he made to both family and community.
Friends are invited to join the family for Gerald’s funeral service at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W., Perth on Friday, August 29th, 2025 at 2:00pm, with visitation one hour prior. The interment will follow at Wolford Cemetery, Jasper. In honour of Gerald, memorial contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
