Obituary of Rita Irene Edmonds

It is with profound sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Rita, with family by her side, at Lanark Lodge in Perth on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025 at the age of 87 years.

Rita was the loving and devoted mother of Larry Edmonds. She was the proud Nanny of Alyssa (Andrea) Edmonds-Read and adoring great Nanny to Camden and Beckem Edmonds-Read. Rita is predeceased by her husband Grant Edmonds and son Brian Edmonds.

In her earlier years, Rita spent her time at the Edmonds Print Shop and ran a home daycare. She will be missed by all of the children she babysat over the years.

Rita will be remembered for her red lipstick, beautiful smile, and her amazing heart. Rita’s sense of humour, her wittiness, and her ability to bring happiness to those around her will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

The family would like to thank the incredibly attentive staff on the Evergreens unit at Lanark Lodge for all the love, compassion, and care they provided Rita.  As per Rita’s wishes, donations in her memory would be appreciated to the Lanark Lodge Recreation Department, the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation, Perth Site, or the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).
