Obituary of Janice Ruth Martin

It is with sad, but full, hearts that we announce the passing of Janice Ruth Martin (Thursday Sept 25, 2025). Beloved wife and best friend of Peter, Janice was a world traveler, experienced boater, avid gardener, dedicated teacher, and determined runner. She was the first to agree to an adventure, and the last to leave a dinner party. She ‘thrifted’ before it had a name. More than anything though, Janice brought people together; she laid the table that we gathered around, prepared the food that we ate, and poured the wine that inspired laughter. Her greatest joy came from creating joy for others. She was predeceased by her brother Stirling and will be missed by her sister-in-law (Penny), her nephew (Jeff) and nieces (Lynda and Marie). She will forever be remembered as the matriarch of the Martin family: Sandra, Kristina, Suzanne (Devon), Stirling (Chloe); and their children: Carter, Grace, Philip, Sophia, Finn, Ava and Iverson. Friends may pay their respects at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The service to celebrate Janice's life will take place on Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Smiths Falls at 11 a.m.  Private interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date.  If desired, memorial contributions may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.
