Obituary of Bernice Wanless

Bernice passed away peacefully Monday, October 20, 2025 at Fox Run on the River Retirement Residence at the age of 103.

Predeceased by her husband George, daughter Jill (Heather), son Barry and grandson Jordan. Loving and devoted mother of Greg Wanless (Kathryn MacKay), and Karen Kerr (the late Doug). Cherished grandmother of Donna and Rick Kerr (Lisa Wood), Jeremy Wanless and Marcus MacKay.

Bernice will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends, especially those from Fox Run.

Fox Run staff loved her. To them she was Ber Nice as she always had a smile for everyone. The staff members gave her a wonderful send off covering her with a Fox Run quilt and standing on each side of her as she left Fox Run.

After cremation, she will be laid to rest in the Brotherton plot at White Chapel near Hamilton in the spring/summer 2026. This will be followed by a family reunion of the Brotherton cousins. Mom loved our reunions at Otty Lake.

There are people in life who shine in ways that aren’t intentional – it’s just natural for them and this was our mother. She will live on in our hearts forever.
