I have good memories of Jennifer from her time working for the Canadian Unitarian Council. She was passionate about bringing people together to make a difference. She drew on many sources, spiritual and academic. She was genuine and caring. She will be missed.

Dear Family,
Sending Jennifer’s children, spouses, and grandchildren my deepest sympathy for your tremendous loss.
When Tamara, Christa, Matt, and Elizabeth were young and all the cousins gathered together on the Matthews side of the family, I always remember feeling safe and loved by Jennifer. She was so easy to be around ,warm, kind, and genuine. She stood out among the adults for me, and her gentle, caring nature left a lasting impression.
These are the qualities I will always remember and cherish as among the most important in a person.
With love and sympathy,
Janet Matthews

My sincere sympathy to Jennifer's family; Matt, Christa, and Tamara and to Jennifer's siblings ; Ross, Elizabeth, Marjorie, Charles and Andrew.
I first met Jennifer when she went to school in Shawville. On Saturday mornings in Shawville, Jennifer and her two sisters, Elizabeth and Marjorie would join my sister, Margaret, and I to take tap and ballet dance lessons. Jennifer left in grade 5 to attend school in Ottawa. Then in the 70's Jennifer and I both lived on the Scotch Line. We were on the Library Board together. I use to help Jennifer to host birthday parties for her children.. Jennifer had lots of parties at their home. Thanks to Jennifer I met Senator Royce Frith. Royce became the Canadian representative to London. When I went to London Royce sent a chauffeured Limousine to my hotel to bring me to Canada House for a visit. I would often visit with Jennifer when I met her in town. It would be great to see Elizabeth and Marjorie when they would come to listen to Jennifer sing with the Men and Women of the Tay, RIP my friend. Until our paths cross again

My heartfelt condolences to the entire Matthews/Dickson/Woods family. To many, Jennifer was their advocate, cheerleader and coach. Her formidable advocacy for women's rights and the planet have made the world a better place. The only thing more important than community, was her fierce love and dedication to her family, in particular her children and grandchildren. What a gift to us who have known her and what a gift for her to be surrounded by love her entire life and in her final days. Jennifer has left the world a better place, far too soon. She will be forever by our side giving us advice, encouraging us all to support one another, reach higher and be brave enough to love deeper. Miss you so much Jennifer! xoxox Jacqueline

Few people have touched a community in the way that Jennifer did. But her gift was to make each person feel special and worthy, no matter how well or little she knew them. Her expansive and generous personality made me feel always welcome. Her hugs made me feel as though she had been waiting for me to arrive. She is someone I had always hoped to know better, someone who taught me much about how be fierce while at the same time full of love. She did not compromise, stint or evade — she lived life with her whole self. She was always an inspiration.

When Jennifer and I, coincidentally, moved into the same condo building in Toronto on the same weekend in 2009, I immediately felt a connection and affection for this fiercely intelligent and caring woman.
Two years later we moved out on the same weekend. Jennifer moved back to Perth to be with her cherished family. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. My husband and I came to the Stewart Park Festival each year mainly to have Sunday morning breakfast with Jennifer. I will miss her larger than life spirit very much.

Jennifer and I first connected through music during the Perth Community Choir's production of Music Man in 1983. I remember talking with her at her house in Glen Tay and listening to the river from her back deck. At the time I thought, what a strong and remarkable woman.
Many years later we reconnected through music at Woman of the Tay, where we found ourselves sitting beside each other. We continued to do so for many years. I discovered in that time that she was still the strong and remarkable woman I had met all those years ago.
Thank you Jennifer for the fun and the music.

Our deepest sympathies to Tamara and Matt. We respected your Mom greatly as she was so dedicated to her many causes. We had an elderly Bouvier who sometimes got out on us and whenever she saw him she would walk him back home again so that he was safe. She will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Sincerely Larry and Debi Sparks

Sincere condolences on the loss of Jennifer; she was truly one of the strongest, most brilliantly passionate mentors of my life. Our paths crossed through Tay Valley Township and Lanark County. Our interactions were always met with sincere kindness, deep conversation and unconditional support. I carry pieces of her teachings with me daily. Thinking of you all at this sad time.

Our deepest condolences to Jennifer’s family and friends. She was just such an amazing neighbour and friend. We worked together on several organizations, including the Community Alliance for Refugee Resettlement (the CARR) and the Friends of the Tay Watershed. She was on Tay Valley Township Council for a number of years helping to improve the lives of her neighbours. On many occasions we would simply drop into her place and sit on her front deck for hours discussing life and everything under the sun. She was always open to humour and stories and had many of her own stories to tell. She will be deeply missed by her family and her friends.

Dearest Christa, Matt, Tamara, Elizabeth and families. Jennifer was the "Mother To All" growing up and beyond. One of my favourite memories of her was when we were all headed out to see Neil Young and it started raining. Well....Jennifer wouldn't have that so she gave us all raincoats to keep up dry and warm! What a beautiful soul! Big Hugs to you all.

Jennifer became a friend during her short time at Tay Terraces. I enjoyed our chats and the wonderful greeting from Ricky Bob whenever I came to the door. I look out of my window and see the trees that she was so instrumental in planting and will always think of her. It was a pleasure knowing her.
