Obituary of Randy Edwards
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Randy, aged 70, at the Great War Memorial Hospital in Perth, following a courageous fight with cancer. He transitioned peacefully and with dignity on his own terms, with family by his side. Dear husband of 30 years to Cathy, much loved stepfather of Lana J. Ostrom and Jodi Barham. He was the proud Grandpa of Ashlynn Woods, Bauer Woods and Summer Wansbrough. Sherri Wansbrough is sad to lose her big and only brother. He was predeceased by his parents Charlie and Kay Edwards. He is survived by his mother-in-law Doreen (the late Bill Skelton), sisters-in-law Jennifer and Judy Skelton, as well as his brother-in-law Ken Skelton. He will be fondly remembered by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
As a young man Randy was employed by IGA, Beach Industries from where he furthered his skills by enrolling in the ' Tool and Die ' program at George Brown College, becoming one of the first and youngest in the province of Ontario to earn his title. His employ spanned several industries, Boeing Arnprior, Plasco in Ottawa where he was fondly called ' Uncle Randy ' by his younger co-workers. Kilmarnock, Smiths Falls, Global Fasteners and Grenville Castings of Perth. Randy was also an avid fisherman and hunter, who greatly loved deer hunting on his Great Uncle's farm at Watsons Corners alongside his dad and his nephew Peter, whom he took great pride in teaching skills in all things life related.
