Obituary of Kathleen Frances Wormald

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Kathleen Frances Wormald, who passed away peacefully at home in Rideau Ferry on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, surrounded by her family, in her 82nd year.

Kathy grew up in Hamilton with her parents, Fred and Margaret Campbell, and her siblings, Don (predeceased), and Jean-Ann.  After high school she attended Teacher’s College. Kathy always taught the early grades and loved the children.  She touched the young lives of over a thousand students.  Kathy began her teaching career in Sheffield, Ontario in a one room school with 37 children.  She also taught in Kitchener, Elgin and Montague and later supply taught all over Lanark County.

Throughout Kathy’s life, Craig, her husband of almost 60 years, was by her side and her partner in every way.  One of their favorite things to do together, and as a family, was travel. There were boat trips to the St. Lawrence every summer, canoe trips, and journeys that took them to all ten provinces, forty-nine U.S. states, and five of the seven continents. They certainly had the travel bug.

Together, Kathy and Craig were blessed with two sons, Tom (Tara Berry) and Rob (Kara Lee Gilby). Kathy cherished being a mom.  She was kind, patient, and spent a lot of time with her boys.  Kathy was an uncontrollable fountain of love with friends and family.  She had so many good times with the Houles, the Campbells, the Wormalds, her friends from Perth and Big Tree Trailer Park in Arcadia, Florida.

After 30 years of teaching, Kathy and Craig retired and built a beautiful timber frame house on the Yacht Club Road in Rideau Ferry where they lived their dream. Kathy enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking, and gatherings with family and friends.  “Nanny” was very hands on, fun loving and created so many special memories with her granddaughters, Emma, Jada and Jordan.  She couldn’t spend enough time with them.

Kathy’s legacy lives on through her selflessness, her unbinding love, hardwork and family values.

She will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W., Perth, on Saturday, November 15th from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. with a sharing of memories at 2:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Kathy’s memory to the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation (MRI Fund).
