Obituary of Brian Kent Bentley
Suddenly near Maberly, Ontario, on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the age of 78, Brian Kent Bentley passed away. He was the son of the late George and Vera Bentley of Clyde Forks, and the brother of the late Jewel (also known as Joe) of Perth, the late Walter of Perth, Mrs. Grace Davidson (née Bentley) of Brantford, and Norma of Clyde Forks. Brian is survived by his nieces and nephews and his many, many friends in the community and across the country.
Brian will be laid to rest in the spring of 2026 alongside his parents and his sister Norma in the Clyde Forks Cemetery, with the exact date to be determined.
Brian lived a life with an open heart and an easy smile. He was charitable toward others, generous in spirit, and known for his kindness and warmth. Fun-loving and endlessly good-natured, Brian was rarely without a laugh or a smile. He carried a youthful energy throughout his life, never allowing himself to grow old in outlook or attitude, and was always ready for the next adventure, wherever it might lead.
Brian’s passion was cooking. He spent more than 50 years in the restaurant industry and was known as the hardest-working man in the kitchen. Whether he owned the place—Edgetown and The Perth Restaurant—or cooked in many other kitchens, from restaurants to hunt camps, or in familiar places like at home and “up at the bus,” Brian brought the same dedication everywhere he worked. Brian was still working at the age of 78 for Mex & Co., whose owners, Jamie, Darlene, and Peter, treated Brian like family and helped him in so many ways.
A Celebration of Life for Brian was graciously held by them at their other establishment, Bridge Master Brewing Company. It was an amazing tribute to Brian’s life, where photos and memories were shared by many of those close to him.
Brian will be remembered for his generosity, his humour, his adventurous spirit, and the joy he brought into everyday moments. He touched many lives through small acts of kindness and will be fondly remembered by those who knew him.
