Obituary of Eileen Marie Christenson

Eileen Marie Christenson (Emery)

October 12, 1928 – November 6, 2025

Eileen Christenson passed peacefully at Lanark Lodge in Perth on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 97 years of age.

Eileen was predeceased by her parents Oliver and Elizabeth Emery, step-mother Doris and brother Oliver Emery. She will be fondly remembered by her step-sister Judy and step-brother David and many nieces and nephews. She was the beloved wife of Tom Christenson for 74 years and cherished mother of Lynn (Stephen) and Lorraine (Ron). Proud “granny” of Gregory (Fen), Krista (Alex), Jayla (Brian), Samantha (Donald), Nicky (Cora) and great granny to Roland.

Eileen grew up in St. John, New Brunswick and graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital Nursing College. A dedicated and compassionate registered nurse, she specialized in surgery, pediatrics and intensive care for many years in North York General Hospital, Newmarket and the Plummer Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Together with her husband, Tom and Eileen were members of the close knit community, Sharon, Ontario for over 20 years before relocating to Sault Ste. Marie. Eileen retired to Kennebec Lake and settled in Perth, Ontario. Eileen was passionate about research, writing and travelling. For many years, Eileen volunteered for Telecare, Sault Ste. Marie, Rural Frontenac Community’s Meals-On-Wheels program and was an active member of the St. James Major Church, Sharbot Lake. 

The family would like to thank the staff at the Lanark Lodge for their loving care and compassion.

A celebration of life will be held at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth, on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 1:00pm. In memory of Eileen, memorial contributions to Lanark Lodge (Resident Activity Fund) or the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.
