Obituary of Irene Claire Moodie

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Moodie, who left us unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the age of 81. For more than 61 years, Irene was the beloved wife, partner, and true companion of Wayne Moodie, with whom she built a life rooted in love, friendship, and shared purpose.Irene was a devoted mother to Jeff (Kate), Joe (Samantha), and Angele, and the proud grandmother of Alanna, Kierstyn, Christopher, and Piper. Her joy only grew upon becoming a great-grandmother to Embrum and Amari.She is predeceased by her siblings Anita Bazant, Lillian Berlinguette, Adele Kline, and Robert Lafontaine, as well as by her parents George and Lillian (née Duffy) Lafontaine. Irene also had a quiet but genuine affection for her nieces and nephews, who were an important part of her extended family. She also cherished her many friendships formed over more than 30 years with her "RV Family" a close-knit group who shared countless trips and gatherings. Irene and Wayne built Advanced Alarm Systems together over the span of five decades, turning their shared work into a family endeavour that now includes the second and third generations. The family wishes to express their deepest thanks to the emergency responders who helped us on the night of Irene’s passing. Your professionalism, compassion, and support during an unimaginable time will never be forgotten. Friends may pay their respects at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 1 to 4 p.m. A service to honour Irene’s life will take place in the Chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Smiths Falls Community Food Bank or your local community food bank, in Irene’s memory.
