Obituary of Ian Peter Laing MacDonald

Ian Peter Laing Macdonald August 9, 1931 - November 12, 2025

Macdonald, Ian passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord Jesus from the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital on Wednesday, November 12th, 2025. Ian was the loving father of Lorne (Rainu) and Dwight (Sharon), dear “Grampie” of Cheryl, Stephen (Dana), Anna (Daniel), Daniel, Marcus and Benjamin and “Great-Grampie” of three great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Jacqueline and his siblings: Gordon, Maxine (Ralph), Robert (Rosalie), Wallace (Irene), David and Helen (Edward). Ian will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and brethren in Christ attending Rideau Christian Fellowship and elsewhere. Born and raised in Welsford, NB; he graduated with engineering degrees at McGill U and UNB. He worked his entire career at the Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories. Ian married Jackie Dickinson from Meductic, NB in 1957 and they raised their 2 sons in Pembroke ON. In his retirement years, he put his mechanical skills to good use by operating a printing press to produce literature about his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, for the enjoyment of his believing brothers and sisters in Cuba and other places.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth, on Sunday, November 16, 2025 from 2:30 – 4:30pm & 6:00 – 8:00pm. Ian’s funeral service will take place at Rideau Christian Fellowship, 8 Craig St. Perth, on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. In honour of Ian, memorial contributions to the Gideon’s International or your charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
