Obituary of Debbie Sentance
Deborah Sentance (Nee Hopewell)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Debbie, peacefully on November 14th, in her 78th year.
She was the beloved wife of Alan Sentance for 57 years and daughter of the late Walter and Betty Hopewell of Ottawa. Debbie was a devoted mother to Mike Sentance (Anna) and Kathryn Lindsay (Matt), and a much-loved Nana to Graham and Andrew Lindsay and Lauren Sentance. She will be fondly remembered by her loving sister Carolyn Sparling (Ken), and brothers Andrew (Karen) Hopewell and Allan (Patsy) Hopewell, as well her sisters-in-law Carol van der Meulen (Gary) and Patricia Skarzynski (George), and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Debbie grew up in Ottawa and graduated from the Civic Hospital School of Nursing. She was a dedicated and compassionate registered nurse in Hawkesbury, ON and Salmon Arm, BC. Debbie was an active curler at the Granite Club in Ottawa and at the Arnprior Curling Club. She was a founding member of the Arnprior “Chest Nuts” Breast Cancer Dragon Boat team. She enjoyed many years of retirement on the Ottawa River in Vydon Acres, frequently hosting family and friends for parties, meals, or just a visit. She particularly enjoyed the summer visits watching her grandchildren play in the water.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Perth and Smith Falls Hospitals for their loving care and compassion.
A celebration of life of will be held at St. James the Apostle Anglican Church in Perth on Monday December 29th at 11 am. Donations in Debbie’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Her kindness and love will be remembered always.
