Obituary of Lois Aileen Vilandre (Nee Young)
With deep love and heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Lois Aileen Vilandre on November 13, 2025.
Lois was the beloved wife of Don Vilandre and a devoted mother to her two sons, Edmond Artelle (Suzanne) and Raymond Artelle and her step-son Jesse Vilandre. She was immensely proud of her grandchildren, Trevor Artelle (Jessie Artelle), and cherished her role as great-grandmother to Kelce.
She is predeceased by her parents, Willis and Marion “Murn” Young (nee McKinnon), and her brother Robert (Brenda nee Howe) Young. Lois will be deeply missed by Bobby and Rhonda Young, Paul and Cindy Young, Pamela Young (Brad Munro) and their daughter, Dessa Hurschler, sadly missed by Fred Ashurst and Ken (Sherry) Ashurst whom she considered her brothers; her very good friends, Jean Marie and Brenda Seguin, as well many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and cherished friends who held an important place in her life.
Lois faced a long and courageous battle with COPD, meeting each day with strength and resilience. Her warmth, love, and humour will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the Staff of the Queensway Carleton Hospital – 3rd Floor ICU for all their care, compassion and support.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation in Lois' honour on Saturday December 6th from 9:00am-11:00am, followed by a service at the Blair and Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St W at 11:00am. A reception will follow the funeral service in the Blair & Son family reception centre. In honour of Lois, the family would appreciate donations to support COPD research through the Canadian Lung Association, or to a local hospital of your choice.
