Obituary of Peter Peckham

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter on Friday, November 28, 2025 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital at the age of 76. Beloved husband and best friend for over 54 years of Maggie (McCurry) Peckham. Dearly loved father of Jason Peckham (Tammy), Jennie Fong (Robert) and Liam Peckham. Poppa will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Emily and Hudson Fong, along with his canine cuddler, Jude. Dear brother of Michael Peckham (Francine) and much loved brother-in-law of Paul McCurry (Susan) and Teresa-Jo Lepage (Bill). Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Peter will be fondly remembered by his extended family and many good friends, including best buddy Gerard.

Peter retired from teaching at St. John Catholic High School in Perth and will be sadly missed by many former students and teachers.

Peter was an active member of his parish and proud voice in the Men of the Tay choir in Perth. 

Peter loved the view from his porch almost as much as he loved delivering a perfectly timed one-liner. His sharp wit and warm humour were matched only by the quiet inner peace he carried with him. A voracious reader and wonderfully articulate thinker, he was respected by many and adored by the people lucky enough to cross his path.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philip Neri Church in Toledo on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date. In memory of Peter, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

The family extends overwhelming gratitude to the ICU team and Father Jonathan at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.
