Obituary of Allan Lewis Stewart
Peacefully at Lanark Lodge on November 30, 2025, Allan passed away at the age of 87. He was the beloved husband of Joyce (nee Bell) for 59 years. Allan was the proud father of Barbara (Jeff Dyer), Brenda (Peter Nordheimer) and Bradley (Lori) Stewart, and the dear grandfather of Cory (Brittany) Dyer, Owen (Shannon) Dyer, Jaclyn Stewart and Charlotte Stewart, great-grandfather of Ben, Jack and Olivia Dyer. Allan will be fondly remembered by his siblings Gordon (Kathleen) Stewart, Margaret Inwood and Helen Halpenny, his sister-in-law Beulah Stewart and brother-in-law Murray (Marilyn) Bell. He was predeceased by his brother Donald and sister Evelyn Knowles. He will be sadly missed by his long-term friend Alma Morris along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Allan’s greatest love was his family and his farm at Pine Grove (Lanark) which involved dairy and later a beef herd. His two favourite jobs were cutting the hay and plowing the land. His main hobby was playing the fiddle and being involved in musical gatherings where he made many friends.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful, caring staff at Lanark Lodge, Maples Unit where Allan spent almost seven years dealing with dementia. Special thanks to Lloyd Wilson for playing hours of fiddle music to Allan at the Lodge.
A celebration of Allan’s life will be held at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 3:00pm – 6:00pm. It will be a casual gathering to honour and remember Allan’s life. A private family burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in the springtime. As expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions to Lanark Lodge Recreation Fund – (the Maples), or the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation – MRI Campaign would be greatly appreciated.
