Obituary of Thomas Robert Dobbie
Thomas Robert Dobbie, a cherished resident of Balderson, Ontario, passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2025, at the age of 78. Thomas lived a full and meaningful life in the close-knit community of Balderson, where he was deeply rooted alongside his family on his family farm. Thomas is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Irene Alice (nee Hoffman), who shared in his joys and challenges. He leaves behind his loving children: daughter Trina Dobbie and son and daughter-in-law Troy and Liane Dobbie. Thomas's legacy continues brightly through his grandchildren, whom he adored: Kaitlin, Mackenzie, Ellie Boychuk, Zoe, Emilie, and Xavier Dobbie. These young lives were a source of immense pride and joy for him. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Irene Dobbie, who also called Balderson home and instilled in him the values of hard work, family, and community that defined his character. Thomas leaves behind his siblings: Gloria (late Bob) Douglas, Brenda (Michael) Charette, Harold (Joan) Dobbie, Nancy (Paul) Anderson, Brian (Tammy) Dobbie and in-laws: Frank (Heather) Hoffman, late Theresa (Reg) Wales, Helen (late Jim) Gogo, Bill Hoffman, Peter Hoffman, John (Joan) Hoffman, Joe (Llonny) Hoffman, Anne (Gary) Tysick along with his many nieces and nephews. Thomas’s life in Balderson was marked by quiet strength, unwavering support for his family, and a deep connection to the land and people around him.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor his memory may consider contributions to a local cause close to the family's heart: the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life at Thomas’ childhood home, 569 Township Boundary Road, Balderson ON. on Sunday, December 14th from 1-3pm.
Thomas will be remembered for the warmth he brought to every room, the stories he shared, and the enduring love he gave freely. Rest in peace, Thomas—your family carries your spirit forward.
