Obituary of Elizabeth Eugenie Comrie

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Elizabeth Eugenie Comrie, age 92, on Friday December 12th, 2025. She passed peacefully after a brief battle with colon cancer, at the Carolina Retirement Residence in Perth Ontario surrounded by her family.

Born in rural Saskatchewan, her family moved to Ontario when she was just a young girl. She married Ron in Ottawa, Ontario on October 2, 1953 and spent the first years of her teaching career in various schools around the Ottawa and Sudbury regions. In 1969, she and Ron moved their young family to Otonabee Township near Peterborough, Ontario where she continued to teach until she retired in 1995. Over the course of those years she earned her Bachelors Degree from Trent University and raised three children, Rick, Lynne and Kirk, before retiring and moving to Youngs Point and then Lakefield, Ontario.

Beth and Ron were active members in the Lakefield community for many years including the Young’s Point church and the Red Hats with her best and lifelong friend Betty Maker. She remained there until moving to Perth, Ontario in 2021 into the Carolina residence.

Over the past four years she has continued to make friends, touch lives, and be a light in the world through her boundless generosity and humour. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a teacher to her core, she lead by example at every turn and through every challenge.

She is survived by her husband Ron and her three children Rick (Diana), Lynne (Karen) and Kirk (Ashley), her grandchildren Eric (Stephanie), Kaitlin (Alex), Michele (Chris) and Clayton and her 4 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to express our profound gratitude to the outstanding staff at the Carolina Residence for their wonderful care and incredible support throughout her stay there.

As per her wishes, a memorial service will be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
