Obituary of Melchor Sison Gonzales

It is with deep sadness and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Melchor Sison Gonzales Born on January 6, 1943, in Bulacan, Philippines and passed away on December 31, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family he devoted his life to.

Melchor was the dedicated husband of the late Emeliana Mely Gonzales (nee Sudiacal), with whom he shared a life centred on family. He was the loving father to Maria Cristobal (Victorio) and Dante Gonzales (Danyka) and the late Maria Lawrence.  He showed his love through his steady presence, quiet support, and strong values of hard work. 

One of Melchor’s greatest joys was being a grandfather.  He took great pride in his grandchildren; Kyle, Andrew, Arden, Christopher, Evan, Breanna, Alyssa, Kathrine and John Carlo. Melchor found great happiness in watching each of them grow.

He is survived by his brother Ariel Tolentino (Jessica), his son-in law Sean Lawrence and he is also predeceased and is reunited with his mother Maria Tolentino.

To his family, Melchor was a constant source of strength and guidance. He cherished his family deeply, his warm humour and gentle smile brought comfort and laughter to those around him. He will be remembered with love, gratitude and fond memories that will live on in our hearts.

Friends may pay their respects at Blair & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m. There will be private graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association, or to the University of Hospitals Kingston Foundation.
