Stanton, Richard (Dick) George
Dick was born on June 19th,1950 and passed away at Perth Community Care Centre, Perth on January 5th, 2026. He was the cherished son of the late Albert and Mary Louise (Johnson) Stanton, and is predeceased by his brother, John. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Suzanne Duquette; daughter Allison Stanton; sister Julie Dixon (Rob Wiseman), her children Ashley (Dan) Ogilvie and family, Adam Dixon (Sarah Howard) and family, Rob’s son Austin Wiseman; sister-in-law Winn (McMunn) Stanton and her children Albert, Wally and families. Dick will be remembered by many cousins, his former wife Wendy Stanton-Gray and many good friends.
Dick was well known in both Perth and Smiths Falls. Having grown up in Perth, he worked with his mother at M&M Cash & Carry, then Ronway Lumber in Smiths Falls, Sheil Windows in Arnprior and ending his working career with Lambden Window and Door on highway 7. Service to the community was important to Dick having been a member of the Smiths Falls Lions Club, the Perth Fair Board and past president of the Lanark Leeds Home Builders Association. In his younger years he was an active skier, drag racer, water skier and snowmobiler. Allison was his sidekick. They went on many adventures. He was also a hockey Dad to a number of Foster Children. Dick supported Allison and Wendy as their love of horse jumping grew and built a home and stable on the 5th Line of Bathurst. Family and friends gathered at the cottage on Rideau Lake for many marvelous parties. After meeting Suzanne, the Drag Racing bug took hold again with his Chevy Nova SS. His addiction to both drag racing and snowmobiling was contagious and Sue caught the bug. Summers were spent travelling to our local tracks, Luskvile Dragway (Quebec), Shannonville Dragway (Ontario) and other tracks in Ontario, Quebec and the northern U.S. states. Dick went regularly to the Smiths Falls and Perth Car Club cruise nights and meetings. In winter, going south was rare. We would head out on our local trails and to Northern Ontario and Quebec. Wonderful and long-lasting friendships were made everywhere Dick went. He was a kind and loving man who would help anyone he could.
