Obituary of Joyce Elizabeth Deegan

In the company of her immediate family, Joyce passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026 at the age of 81. She was the beloved mother of Kevin Paul Deegan (Kim) and Heather Elizabeth Deegan (Paul Meier) and cherished Nana of Lauren Deegan and Chloe and Joslyn Deegan-Meier. Joyce was the dear sister of Gary Moore (Judi) and aunt of Kevin and Corey Moore. She is pre-deceased by her parents Elmer and Madeline Moore (nee Cooke). She will be fondly remembered by many brothers- and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews in the Deegan family, as well as her lifelong friend, Judy Charles, and many colleagues. Joyce was a Registered Nurse, a proud graduate of the St Lawrence College nursing program, a program she completed as a mature student to fulfill her interest in caring for others. She retired after a rewarding career at the Brockville Psychiatric Hospital and enjoyed traveling to sunny destinations and spending time with her three granddaughters exploring, learning and laughing.  

Joyce will be remembered for her calm nature, her kind heart and her support and loyalty to those she loved.  

Joyce’s family wishes to extend profound gratitude to the staff of St Lawrence Lodge who provided compassionate support and care in recent years.  

Family will gather to celebrate Joyce’s life with an event planned for the spring. For those who wish, memorial donations can be gifted to the Alzheimer Society of Lanark Leeds and Grenville. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors, Smiths Falls.
