Obituary of Roman Taras Halitsky

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Roman Taras Halitsky after a brief unexpected illness. Roman went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Saturday, January 10^th at the age of 46.

Roman was an endeared member of the Perth community. He was an incredibly talented woodworker, creating beautiful, hand-sculpted rocking chairs for his loved-ones. He found a home at O’Reilly’s Ale House, working along some truly beautiful people; this is where he met his wife and love of his life, Sabrina. When O’Reilly’s closed its’ doors, Roman began a new career in HVAC with Valley Heating/Clean Sweep in Perth and this is where he truly found his passion. Roman loved his work and felt valued and appreciated. Roman was gifted with the ability to do well at anything he attempted.

Roman was a devoted follower of Christ. He loved the Lord and lived his life guided by faith. Roman led his family in God’s truth and everlasting love. They attended Rideau Christian Fellowship in Perth, Ontario. Roman will be greatly missed by his church family at RCF.

Roman was predeceased by his beloved son, Christopher Halitsky; his father, Rev. Eugene Halitsky; and his nephew, Isaac Woods.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Sabrina Halitsky (née van Hoof), and his children, Esmeralda Halitsky and Jacob Halitsky, who were the center of his world. He is also survived by his mother, Anna Halitsky.

Roman is remembered by his siblings: Mehron Halitsky, (fiancé Casey); Natalka Woods (husband Jason Woods), and their children Benjamin and Timothy; Oksana Monforton (husband Alan Monforton), and their children Eliana and Henry.

He is also fondly remembered by his extended family through his wife, Sabrina. Roman is survived by his parents-in-law, Peter van Hoof and Sue Gibbs; his sisters- and brother-in-law: Velvet Rollin (husband Yves Rollin), and their children Rollin and Simon; Krystle van Hoof; and Wesley van Hoof (wife Emily van Hoof), and their children Dakota, Madison, and Wyatt.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 23^rd, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rideau Christian Fellowship, 8 Craig St., in Perth. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 24^th, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Rideau Christian Fellowship, Interment will take place at Rideau Ferry Cemetery, followed by a reception and time of sharing memories.
