Obituary of Bruce Gilbert Gallinger

Sergeant Bruce Gilbert Gallinger, affectionately known to family and friends as Dick, passed away in Perth, Ontario, at 91 years of age.

Dick proudly served in the Royal Canadian Air Force for 26 years (1951-1977), retiring with the rank of Sergeant. His service was a source of great pride, and those who knew him admired his strong work ethic, integrity, and sense of responsibility. He carried those same qualities into every part of his life.

Dick is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Gallinger, with whom he shared 72 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life rooted in deep love, steadfast partnership, and countless cherished memories.

He is lovingly remembered by his children: Stephen Gallinger; Sherrie and David Whitworth; Karen and John DeGuilio; and Wendy Langley (predeceased). His legacy continues through his nine grandchildren and six great‑grandchildren, who were a great source of pride and joy to him.

Dick was predeceased by his parents Dorothy Sussans and Herbert Gallinger, as well as his siblings Dorothy Clapp, Patricia Watson, Kathleen Dinelle, Phyllis Ross, Edna Baizana, George “Sonny” Gallinger, and Walter Gallinger.

To have known Dick was to feel his immense presence and to have shared a drink with him was to feel love and friendship.

Away from his military career, Dick knew how to enjoy life. He loved hunting, fishing, and boating on Mississippi Lake, and could often be found planning a trip to the casino or looking forward to winters spent in Florida. These were the moments that brought him happiness and stories that will be fondly remembered by those who loved him.

Dick’s funeral service will be held at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth, on Saturday January 24th, 2026, at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Mississippi Rideau Lakes Salvation Army, an organization that reflects Dick’s values of service and helping others.

Dick will be remembered for his kindness, steady presence, and devotion to family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and quiet strength that will be carried forward by all who knew him.

Dick will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
