It is with great sadness that the family of Laurie Ann Buker announce Laurie's sudden and unexpected passing on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the Kingston General Hospital at the age of 56 years. Predeceased by her mother, Donna (Buker) Reynard, and father, Ronald Lapointe, and cherished grandmother, Muriel (Buker) Lackey, Laurie is survived by her brother Kevin Reynard and her many Buker family aunts, uncles and cousins.
Having experienced a life altering health crisis approximately eleven years ago, Laurie was a resident of Lanark Lodge in Perth, ON, where she could be close to family (here is also where she discovered her love for writing poetry). Previously, Laurie had relocated to live and work in Kingston, ON, a city that she loved, so it is fitting that it was there that she passed away.
Laurie was a loving daughter, sister, niece, cousin and loyal and trusted friend to many. She was a protector by nature and was quick to offer support to others. She had a fierce love of children and, having none of her own, enjoyed spending time with the children of her family and friends. Laurie was a spiritual person who saw the good in everyone. Visits with Laurie usually ended with a prayer and always with her expression of love and appreciation. Despite the health challenges she experienced, Laurie had an admirable outlook on life, tremendous sense of humour, and she was truly an inspiration to anyone who had the privilege to know her.
All are invited to visit with Laurie’s extended family at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore Street West, Perth, on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 9:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Elmwood Cemetery. All are welcome to attend a reception at the Blair & Son Reception Centre following the burial.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Lanark Lodge for the exceptional care and kindness that was provided to Laurie over the years. We would also be remiss if we did not extend our heartfelt thanks to the family and friends of other residents of Lanark Lodge, who took the time to visit with Laurie too. Your visits meant a great deal to her.
To the Perth Hospital Emergency team and Paramedics, thank you for responsiveness to Laurie’s wishes and quick action to see her transported to Kingston General Hospital. To the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Palliative Care, and Spiritual Care teams at Kingston General Hospital, our sincerest appreciation for your exemplary care and professionalism.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Laurie’s memory would be appreciated to Lanark Lodge, Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital – Perth Site, or to the Kingston General Hospital.
