
Obituary of David Grant Huxley
David was born in Montreal, Quebec in 1941. He was the loving son of Benjamin and Bertha Huxley and the youngest of six. In his teens he joined the Royal Canadian Corp of Signals serving predominantly in the Ottawa are for 14 years apart from a three-year tour in Germany with NORTHAG Sigs Troop and one year UN peacekeeping tour in Gaza Palestine.
David met his ever-loving bride-to-be Chantel Marie Briand in 1961 and were married in Hull, Quebec in October 1963. Their only child Lynn Genevieve Huxley came along in 1974.
David transferred to foreign affairs and enjoyed much varied and very educational career serving a total of 37 years of public service. David, Chantal and Lynn travelled extensively worldwide. Throughout his career they were posted in served in India, Thailand, Portugal, Zaire (Congo), and Tel Aviv Israel (Their favourite posting) where Chantal participated in archeological digs and despite the wars and Intifada, they remained for an enjoyable five year tour, their final posting was to Nairobi Kenya. David was awarded the Public Service “Award of Excellence” in 1995 for his participation in the Rwanda Evacuation Project.
When not on postings abroad, David, as a telecommunications specialist, participated in part in many special projects such as Prime Minister travels, Royal visits, Federal Election franchises, CHOGM meetings and the 1981 G-7/Ottawa/Montebello summit, as well as supervisor of Diplomatic Couriers, and as such has travelled extensively throughout his career. Upon his retirement David and Chantal moved to Perth, Ontario area.
The love of his life and best friend Chantal MP Huxley preceded David in life after succumbing to Dementia/Covid in November of 2022. David was a very kind and loving husband to Chantal and father to Lynn and was always ready to volunteer to help those in need.
David was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer in 2025 and succumbed to this terrible disease in February 2026. David will always be remembered in our hearts as a devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family. May God our Father bestow his blessing on David and grant him eternal peace in Heaven.
David Huxley is survived by his daughter Lynn Genevieve Huxley and his two grandchildren Mikaela Gabriel Huxley and Sierra Faith Huxley.
David will be interred at St. John’s Cemetery in Perth in a private family ceremony at a later date.
May he now rest in Eternal Peace with Chantal.
