Obituary of Jacqueline Susan Biggs

Jacqueline, in her 81st year, died peacefully on March 14, 2026, at the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital, Perth Site, with her husband of 62 years by her side. Born in England in 1945, she was the beloved daughter of Jack Brunwin and Eileen Hubbard.

Jacqui faced Parkinson’s disease with remarkable courage and grace. Her strength was evident from the moment she entered the world—born two months prematurely in the weeks following the end of World War II, at a time when such an early birth carried significant risk. Even as a tiny newborn, Jacqui proved she was tenacious.

That same spirit carried her across the ocean in 1969, when she and Kevin moved to Canada with their three sons. They first made their home in Trend Village in Ottawa, where they embraced a new country and community, before later settling in Aylmer, Québec. In later years, the family returned to the south coast of England before finally settling back in Canada in the mid-1990s, followed by a move to their forever home in the Town of Perth in 2004.

Jacqui loved her garden and took great pleasure in growing vegetables and flowers, and in watching birds come to her feeders. She delighted her grandchildren by inventing dragon stories to read aloud to them. Wherever she lived, Jacqui created a home that felt warm, inviting, and full of laughter.

She was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister to Gillian (Les), aunt, and mother-in-law. Jacqui is survived by her devoted husband, Kevin, sons, David (Sarah) of Kanata and Philip (Leanne) of Carleton Place. She was predeceased by her son, Stephen.  Jacqui is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashleigh (Grant), Connor (Geneviève), Kirsten, Jessica (Matthew) and her mother, Pad, Dane (Kate), Ryan, Hollie, Hannah, and Harrison, and great-granddaughter, Wren.  She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews in Canada and the United Kingdom.  She is also survived by a daughter, Karen (Simon)

The family would like to send heartfelt thanks to Dr. Alistair MacDonald, and to all the wonderful medical and hospital staff at Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital, Perth Site, the Lanark County Paramedic Service, and the personal support workers who helped care for Jacqui in a difficult last year.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the family residence in Perth to remember and celebrate Jacqui’s life well lived on Sunday, April 12, 2026, between 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

If you feel inspired to honour the kindness and strength Jacqui lived by, a donation to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or to the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital (Perth) would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Blair and Son Funeral Home, Perth.
